JON BALLANTYNE
New-York based jazz pianist Jon Ballantyne
grew up in a musical household and began playing the piano at a young age. Jon
has been playing professionally for almost three decades, working with a host
of greats such as Cecil Taylor, Ed Blackwell, Elvin Jones, Joe Henderson and
Lee Konitz among others. His work on the keys keeps this organization funky,
and his improvisations are profound- he colors the tunes and helps drive the
rhythm of Funk Xpress.
